We start with a base familiarity you are accustomed to in MMOs, and then build from there an offering of a number of innovative systems such as The Library, Studies, Families, Deities, and a Hybrid Character Progression System. The overall "difference" that we hope to offer with ALGANON is that of total interaction and world immersion supportive of a pace you enjoy most.
The Library system is innovative; a grand repository of knowledge that can be accessed by any player to gain insight into the world - from within the game itself! Absolutely! This is the beauty of Alganon and all the cool features in it. We are not building a game that challenges you to choose solely between Alganon and another MMO. Play other games, but know that Alganon will always have tons of features and opportunities for fun during those times you can play it.

Absolutely! In fact, we have our MyAlganon social networking site for this purpose. Not only will you have the resources of the main news site and the Library at your fingertips, but MyAlganon's vast community resources as well!
Also, we recently included SMS messaging support into MyAlganon! You will be able to use this feature to community with your guild from outside the game and obtain important updates as scheduled raid times! Be sure to also check out our other social networking connections.
In the library you can learn all aspects of the game through the library interface, which is available in the game, through the user interface, and offline on MyAlganon.com. This information is linked directly to the game database, so as the game evolves, the library evolves automatically.
Our Studies system allows a player to grow their characters over time through a progressive time-based advancement method. Whether you are online or offline, selected studies will advance. We are currently looking into adding Studies to our SMS messaging system.
This system provides a balance, ensuring a healthy reward for those that do not have the time to invest in the game, but not giving an unfair advantage to those that do. To change Studies, simply login to advance another path.
You will also be part of a "family" in Alganon. Being a part of a family in Alganon is a great way to join with players that share similar interests. For example, power gamers can be in the same family and casual gamers can be in their own family. You can switch families for a fee or by completing a certain quest, but only between families for a given race. A Kodian cannot join a Human family, for example. While family names will be displayed by default upon entering the game, you will have the option to turn them off.
Each Domain in Alganon has a massive, domain-wide objective that all players in the zone can participate in. These domain objectives will take effort from many players to complete, but the rewards for completing them are granted to all players in the zone. In many zones, these domain objectives are competitive - the Asharr and Kujix compete to gain the domain-wide boon.
There will indeed be an auction system. It will allow players to post items that can be purchased by other players. Players will be able to set a minimum bid, as well as a buyout price.
The continents of Ardonya and Harraja are huge! The domain of Asheran Forest, for example, is larger than the entire playable space of some other games. Many of these areas will be opened up sometime after release, allowing a progression for your character's exploration long after you begin your journeys.
We understand that a mapping system is a vital component to the overall player experience. There are four levels of maps that pin-point where you are in the world. You will also have your satellite radar view that displays your immediate surroundings, and plenty of signs and other markers along the various roadways that connect population centers with each other. Expect this system to be extremely detailed to your character's location.
There is a huge amount of variety in the terrains offered in Alganon. As you adventure through the land you will cross through deep chasms, walk along the sandy shores of a great ocean, and slosh your way through thick water in a distant swamp.
We firmly believe that the worst thing you can do is "steal" from a player's experience. For this reason, we are not adopting any "loss" mechanisms for death that would result in anything more than minor monetary and time delay adjustments.
ALGANON features many different types of content to address both single and group play styles. The core game is designed for single players to have a rich and fulfilling experience on their own if they choose; however certain realms of adventure will require a group of players to infiltrate and conquer.
You can choose your own play style; with or without a group, and always find something to do regardless of your choice. We do not want to penalize players who wish to play alone, but we want to enhance the experience for those who want to play together.
As a MMOG, ALGANON is a living breathing world where content updates and game adjustments are constantly taking place. There is no "end game" to ALGANON, and the last thing we want to do is put players in the rut of doing the same thing again and again because there is nothing else to do. Alganon was designed for infinite growth, and we plan to put that to the test.
We are focusing on creating a content system that evolves with your characters; even the most powerful ones. We are also creating a variable system what allows players to become empowered while in certain areas, or as a result of certain actions. This will allow for players to pursue planned strategies that will allow for them to achieve these empowerments.
We also plan to keep track of the Legends of Alganon, with a section of the Great Library devoted to tracking record setting events in the game. There will always be a new record to break, a new foe to defeat, a new challenge to overcome.
All crafting within ALGANON utilizes the built in skill and study system. This means that players can raise their skills based on engaging in activities, but the study system will adjust the potency of their skills, and open up new skills to be learned. This allows for a balance to be created.
In the current design, you will be able to freely choose any two of the specialized crafting/gathering skills - such as blacksmithing, leatherworking, skinning, or salvaging. These will not be bunched in groups; you are free to pick any two that you'd like.
For example, a player can make 100 swords in a single day and raise their Blacksmithing skill from creating swords, however, they will have to wait just as long as any other player to raise their supportive studies to make better swords, or possibly open the next branch of Swordsmithing.
This creates a balance where power gamers don't dominate the market, allowing for casual gamers to focus their studies to compete in crafting some of the best items in the game. As a general rule we try to keep crafting and adventuring separate on an individual level, but interdependent on a massive level.
Only one character can actively study at a time, however it's very easy to switch between characters and "resume previous study".
Not at this time; as the Asharr and Kujix are sworn enemies and bitterly hate working together in any capacity. They cannot share group together or join the same guild.
During BETA testing we found that most players interested in utilizing voice-chat already had access to a third-party voice chat system. As Alganon grows, we will keep an eye on this topic and continue to reevaluate the addition of an in-game voice chat system.
ALGANON will allow for extensive client-end modifications and UI adjustments. While we will not allow any of the core systems to be circumvented (due to exploitation), we will be empowering the players to control how they wish to experience the game to the best of our abilities.
We have built the core client, server, and world building systems entirely from scratch. This gives us ultimate control over what we can do with the world, which gives you an ultimate experience that can be tailored as the game continues to grow beyond release.
