Alganon Newsletter December 2010The Arena of Command TournamentThe first ever AoC Tournament is upon us! On December 15th, with Alganon patch 2.05.010 going live the first Arena of Command will commence. Will you fight to become the champion? The Winds of WarDissatisfied with the stalemate in the War of Conversion, Zanyana's fury has reached a point where even the words of Triasha and Argon can no longer soothe her. Through a proclamation to the Asharr, she has declared that a war cannot be fought without true armies and armies cannot be victorious without champions and generals to lead them. Zanyana has therefore announced the first Arena of Command, where only the strongest of the Asharr will compete for the right to lead armies against the Kujix through a competition of arms and strategy. However, word of this event soon reached the ears of Ghazmok who delighted in a chance to eliminate the weak from the strong, and he announced that the Kujix would also take part in the Arena of Command where he would show the Asharr that pretty words do not win battles. Thus the two gods have agreed to hold a championship where the strongest heroes of Alganon will rise above and crush those who stand in the way of glory. The AoC TournamentThe first ever Alganon AoC will be held from December 15th to December 30th 2010. It is open to all players from level 10-50. There are 5 brackets in which to compete based on Experience Level: 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50. The tournament will proceed in two phases: Season, and Playoffs. Season:The season will run from December 15th @ patch release to December 24th @ 11:59PM PST. When you enter the game you will see the new Tournament UI button on your screen. Simply right-click on the UI button to turn on and off your Rated Dueling buff. While you have your Rated Dueling buff active you can challenge, or be challenged to a duel with any other Rated Buffed player. The results of the duel are automatically recorded by the server, and your win/loss record is updated. The players with the best records will advance to the Playoff Round. Playoffs:At the close of the regular season the server will seed players in the various level bands and start the playoff portion of the tournament. This is a single elimination tournament starting on December 26th and finishing by December 30th. Players will be responsible for communicating with their opponent via myalganon.com, or in-game chat (cross faction use /help channel). The opponent will meet at the appointed time and proceed to engage in a best of three (3) Rated duel series. The victor will be automatically logged and advanced to the next round. The champion of each level band will receive a server-unique Tabard and Freedom Trinket. AoC Tournament GroundsRated dues can occur in any area where dueling is currently allowed, however a faction-neutral AoC Tournament Grounds has been added north of Westport in Ardonya. To get a free portal to the tournament grounds go to any portal. You're responsible for your own way home, so make sure you are bound somewhere satisfactory. At the tournament grounds you'll find quests, vendors and a place to interact with others, and to practice and conduct rated duels.
