I've read all of the following:

"Released in Dec 2009"
"Launch in April 2010"
"Patch Mar. 1st 2010"
"I've been playing since Sept. 2009"
"I've been playing since Nov. 2009"
"I've played for a long time"

Ok, when was this game released? What is launching in April? Why are there people posting they've played for several months?

Is this in retail stores? Is this a download only? This forum is giving me a headache. :teehee:

Should I wait during the p2p to f2p transition before playing?

Can I use paypal for the goodies that will cost $?

I began playing WoW about 3 months after Burning Crusade came out (stopped about 3 months ago) and I always wished I had started when it was released. Being in a community where everyone was utterly new at it was appealing hence my interest here. So how new is Alganon because I'm getting lots of conflicting info.

The game was in closed beta for a good part of last year. It was originally supposed to launch around November 1, if I recall. There was an open beta for several weeks leading up to that. Then the launch was pushed back a month. However, as that date approached, that launch date was changed to being a "soft launch", with reduced client and subscription prices and a (re)launch to follow. Now the word is that the (re) launch (real launch?) is to happen next month.

So the game has been released already... sort of.

I attended one of the several universities located near the Charles River (in the Boston area). We used to have a joke. "How deep is the Charles River?" one person would ask. "Nobody knows. It just keeps on getting thicker and thicker" would be the response. Okay, many years have passed and the Charles is a LOT cleaner. But you get the point. Saying exactly what is/was Alganon's launch date is sort of like knowing when you've found the bottom of the Charles...

It is only available by digital download. We did launch on Dec. 1, but as the poster above mentioned that was called a "Soft Launch" due to no marketing being done and the product not being where we wanted it to be at that time.

You can buy the client now and start playing, and you will not be charged any subscription fees. Waiting until April 8th simply means you will lose another month of playtime. Getting in now certainly gets you in on the ground floor, even though there are already a bunch of level capped characters. The community is still very small.

I don't know about Paypal, but I'm sure one of our marketing people or our CSGMs will be able to answer that question for you.

It's definitely something I'd like to see, but at this time it's not going to make it in to our official launch. If that changes, I'll be sure to let you know.
I'm currently drinking a Pepsi. Doesn't matter when you read this, it's most likely true.

Yes, debit card is fine. For all intents and purposes a debit card is the same as a credit card

Debit card might be fine to purchase Alganon, but debit cards and credit cards are not the same for all intents and purposes. Try renting a car with a debit card and you will discover the difference. Debit cards offer a little more flexibility to the customer side of the purchase and are a higher risk than the credit card for the company when a customer purchases a product/service and then decides to cancel their transaction.

Interesting, I have yet to find anything that I can't purchase with my debit card including car rental as long as it's one of those visa/mc/etc debit cards.

I'll second that the community may have players with characters at the level 50 cap, but we still have the "new game feel". The large guilds are still friendly and welcoming new players, and there's still new people coming in.

I've been playing since September in beta, and while some of the exact people have changed, the overall community has stayed pretty faboo on the whole. I think it's a great time to start in on the game, before the "official launch."
Sometimes the crazy has to be saved up, allowed to percolate in the gumbo pot of zany.
