any chance that they are going to fix the mana problems with this class? i fire like 3 fireballs and boom oom. if i have 2 mobs on me im dead. Wand damage is not enough to make up for this at all. Need to either improve damage ALOT of the spells or like reduce the amount of mana it cost by 75%. This is just so frustrating to play and i have been trying to play it.

Already complained about this on my Cabalist since it's exactly the same problem there.

We gain 1 Endurace, 2 Intelligence and 1 Soul per level.

(which is 20% or even 50% less than the other two classes)

And out of those 4 stats we gain, those 2 Intelligence are rather useless, because they increase our Focus pool by 30 points, but at the same time, they increase all spell costs by 10 or 20 points, pretty much nullifying their effect and unlike Strength which increases Physical attack these points don't increase Spellpower, at least not at a 200% rate maybe we're lucky and get +5% from abilities.

The reply i got on this topic, when i tried to point it out last time, was that i should try and get a bigger mana pool by having tons of Int on my gear (which makes me a one shot wonder), or increase my Focus regeneration with studies.

Neither of those really helps to fix the problem, if it wasn't for "Divine Favor" i would've most likely quit playing my Cabalist long ago and switched to a Ranger, who's got an abiltiy on his Predation tree that allows him to regain focus with normal attacks ...

Ability management comes into play. When fighting 1 or 2 mobs, I have yet to Run out of focus on my mage before the mob/mobs are dead, now after 3 or 4 mobs, I do have to take a second grab a refreshing drink of spring water and regen. This can change depending on a poorly timed dodge by the mobs or a miss on my part.

On boss fights I can run low on focus if I go all out blasting. Normally if I do that I grab agro and annoy the heales and tanks. If I manage my dps output and my focus I don't have problems. Throwing in a healing pot on long fights help in that area also, for those times you need to kill a mob before the go super nova.

Im guessing your talking about a lvl 50 mage not a lvl 1-30 mage. low level mana is TERRIBLE. they really need to fix it. Only reason my priets is 50 is i did it before the big nerf.

Correct me if I am wrong, isn't the key to combat spirit drain is to bulk up on Soul? I have a TOS instance healer that rarely out of focus. By switching gear pieces with +soul, I am able to keep up with the regen. Her focus store isn't great at about 4200. But she rarely go below 50%.

I have to agree with some of the posts above; if you don't just go all-out every fight, building a Magus is more than doable with the Spirit Drain mechanic. As mentioned, ability management and not blowing through your focus pool right away is important. It was a change to those who were used to the near-infinite focus pool (blast blast blast blast blast dead), but Spirit Drain gives weight to each and every spell you cast, making fighting far less mindless than it was previously for a caster.
I'm currently drinking a Pepsi. Doesn't matter when you read this, it's most likely true.

Well easiest solution to the problem would be to switch to either Champion/Reaver or Ranger and you'd be fine. No more Focus troubles for ya :)

My usual fighting style tends to be opening with a DPS or something heavy-hitting that has a long cast time (and THEN a DPS), then following up with a quick spell or so before letting my wand get some action in as my focus builds back up. Then repeat per your needs. I know that sounds generic, but it follows the basic methods I tend to use (of course, situations vary). I treat my focus pool as if 1/3 full is my minimum and don't go below that unless I'm in dire need. This gives me an extra spell or two to play with in reserve should the situation turn dire. After a fight, I don't jump on the next enemy immediately, but wait a moment to make sure my focus pool is optimum. I'm the kind of player that loves to take on an entire area, and I find I'm still able to do this quite well in Alganon as long as I pace myself.

As for healing and the like, I can't stress enough how useful healing pots are during fights (and even food before to "set things up"). But of course I try to not get hit if I can help it so that natural healing covers me well enough. It's all about finding your personal groove and working with it.
