As of early this morning the Big Ticket event is live!

Throughout today and tomorrow players with a Grand Pumpkin Smash Token in their inventory will have a chance to loot a ticket from every Doomgourd they smash. These rare items are good for Tribute when traded in with a GM (as discussed here!), so purchase your Token from the Tribute Market and get those Doomgourds!

I'm just curious...

Is there a set amount of tickets available?

We heard of 1 gold, 3 silver and about 6 bronze tickets being found within a few hours of the event going live but after lunch time yesterday no one seems to be finding anything (been asking in local chat). Either there is a set amount, drop rate has been reduced for some reason or its borked atm :whistling:

I smashed pumpkins for about 13 hours. Several 1000 easy. I didn't see one ticket, nor heard of anyone else getting any. ( yes, I purchased the token and have it on me) I did get several that were empty, not even any candy. 7 or 8 dropping in the first couple of hours and then nothing after that sounds suspicious to me.

Well, if only a fixed amount were to be given out, well and good, but it would be nice to know before spending another 13 hours today feverishly smashing them knowing that there are none left to be had.

At the start of the event, there were four of us running around together (We split up Asheran :P) and we all got our copper tickets within the first 45 mins to an hour of smash, and then there were more dropping that none of us could pick up.

By contrast, after instancing for a few hours and trying later in the day, there were 10+ people smashing in Asheran and repeatedly asking in local & guild nobody seemed to find anything whatsoever other than dyes, masks, candy, and pets.

I'm not saying that only giving out a set # is a problem, just that communication on it would be nice. ;)

Early Saturday morning certainly seems like the sweet spot for getting tickets. Some people have reported that not only did they get a bronze ticket, but that they also uncovered additional ones that they were unable to pickup because they are unique.

Since early Saturday morning, there have been reports in chat of exactly one ticket, a bronze ticket. That was reported at about 2:00 pm EST Saturday afternoon. Sure seems that there is a quota or a dramatic tweak to the drop rate.

I now wonder if the 1 isolated report of a ticket being found Saturday wasn't just someone saying that they had gotten one [earlier]; or perhaps it was the last 1 available?

Can anyone confirm receiving a ticket Sunday *at all* ?

Same for hokk,
I got a silver sat morning within the first few minutes of it going live.
heard a few others got copper and 1 gold from chat.
but that was it..
nothing more since saturday morning.
we smashed all day and night and quite a few hrs today. been in chat all day and no one else has seen nor heard of anymore.
would have been nice to see a global message.."so and so recieved a Gold ticket..Hurry up 3 silver and 4 copper left" or something :ninja:

I currently have a Golden Ticket sat in my bags, waiting for a GM to show up when I'm logged in.
It's from Saturday morning EU time, toon is on Adrios.

You can get one of each ticket, but the game won't let you loot another of the same type.

As for ticket numbers, there are indeed a finite number of tickets with a very low drop rate. If many people are bashing for hours straight and not seeing any additional tickets drop, there's a chance that they've all been found on that server. But keep trying! Even if that's the case, keep smashing those Doomgourds to grab all the loot you can before the end of the event!

So I've been smashing for hours this weekend and didn't need to?
A serverwide message should have been announced that all tickets have been found.
Kind of bites, for those who have been loyal and patient players this past year.

Would have been nice for all those that wasted 50 tribute to have known

gotta agree. I have to work a lot and seems to me I get screwed over also. I think you guys should have given all of us a chance. I'm just gonna finish up my mystic seeing its almost 50 and probably just move on also. It's the small stuff that is getting to me in this game and instead of just bitching all the time ill just move on. I'm sure you guys will be happy at least.

Not quite. :P I confirmed at least one ticket was found on both servers late this (Sunday) afternoon. In fact, if was sometime after your post above, Trebori. So to those upset they were not able to find a ticket, there was every opportunity for the majority of the weekend. As noted, the drop rates were set low, so hours could go by without a drop, or chance could drop one in your lap within a few minutes.

Seems HIGHLY suspect, sorry Pad :X Unless this extra ticket was 'added' to the total later on. Most of us were chitchatting on /local while all the smashing was going on. Because Zat & I were EU it was early morning here when event started rather than middle of the night. Saw server shutdown announcement right around that time figured the tickets were being added in. Gave it about 20 minutes then logged on. Within seconds of logging on, saw Asuraz announce his golden ticket in chat, and within the next 30 minutes of smashing Zat & I both had copper ones. 30 mins later Izzy and Vangarin both had copper ones and another copper one that nobody could pick up rotted on the ground. All of this within the first few hours of event being live.

Another couple hours of smashing getting nothing, then Zat pulled a silver one and two others in chat reported silvers. Over the next 12 hours or so not much happened, I think one player pulled another silver. All day Sunday, nobody on our side anyway reported a ticket - at all, except for the one you mention in this post.

I understand it is just 'probability' - but it doesn't make sense that a half dozen should all drop within a couple of hours and - without a change to the rate with which the pumpkins are dying - one turn up after 24 hrs of nothing. If anything the number of people smashing increased as time went on rather than decreased. If so the probability was very 'top heavy' and it seems the same on kujix side from what I'm reading on here. That doesn't really make sense.

Some people are a bit irked that, after getting a bronze and confirming that it was limited by char and not account, and thinking that they were not FINITE, purchased another token on tribute market on another char to keep participating event after copper tickets were rotting unclaimed. And then smashed. For hours and hours, when there was no chance whatsoever to get anything.

While this was all a very good idea, it was very poorly executed. If you had made 50, 100, and 250 tribute rewards and made them about as common as the rarer of the two pets, without setting a limitation, I think everyone would have been happy. Instead, you made the day of 2-3 players who happened to log on minutes after the patch and subjected everyone else to needless frustration.

At the very least, there should have been communication that this was the case. It would have avoided all of the above disgruntlement.

Many of us are satisfied with the new pets and dyes being 'the event' in its entirety - very cool, fun, etc. But being told there was a chance at a 5000 tribute ticket and that chance actually not existing if you weren't on right when it started, stings a little. I know I had far better things to do than spend countless hours smashing pumpkins looking for something that wasn't there.

I'm sorry you find it "suspect", Anzha, but no more tickets were added, nor was anything changed. If all tickets were found the only way to make a new one appear was to delete one of the found ones, thus adding another ticket to the pot. I don't know if this was the case or if it was just the numbers. To put things in perspective, in some cases we (QOL) put over well over a dozen man-hours into ticket-hunting before one would show up. Other attempts took far less time. I realize many tickets dropped early, but to say it is unlikely that a ticket could be found after a long stretch of time is a bit extreme, especially partially basing this on the fact someone didn't bring it up in public channels to notify everyone. Some people don't chatter, you know? :)

I understand some people are upset because they didn't know there were a finite amount of tickets. I'll take the blame for that, as I thought what we released covered everything and did not realize people would be upset that others may get to the winnings before they do. I'm saddened to hear that on Adrios the Gold ticket was found extremely quickly, but unfortunately it looks like that's what happened. I'm a little confused why someone would think we would give people an opportunity to win "infinite" amounts of Tribute (tickets) in the amounts we assigned, especially considering we're trying to build the game back up from its former woes and one of those main ways is Tribute purchases. Big prizes, finite amounts.

I'm glad so many people enjoyed the other prizes found in the Doomgourds and wish there weren't any dissatisfied people in the end. We had an excellent turnout for this Halloween event, and we'd like everyone to walk away satisfied. Any confusion was very much unintentional - we wanted everyone to enjoy the event, ticket winner or not. In the future we'll be sure to be crystal clear on the boundaries of events/contests and what they may mean to all people involved. We'll also think on methods of giving more smaller rewards in some cases to spread the love, so to speak.

In other news, anyone who won a ticket can contact a GM to collect their winnings starting tomorrow morning (8am PST). You can do this via a support ticket, in-game message, e-mail or a PM here on the boards. And congrats!

*nods knowingly*

I think the communication of 'how it was to be' was the main issue; knowing that most (or all) of the prizes were gone probably would have changed things for a lot of people as far as what they chose to do. That's all. I agree that everyone getting handed 8500 tribute over the holiday would be a bit excessive, but perhaps for future events as you said, smaller prizes in greater abundance would help make 'more' people happy and also encourage additional tribute purchases to afford 'that thing they can almost afford...' ;)
