Known Issues
  • We have implemented a new path-finding mechanic for mobs. There are a few issues that will cause some mobs to behave improperly. We're working to get these resolved as soon as possible.
Gameplay Enhancements, Content, and Game Balance
  • The Temples of Argon and Xukiss will now await players who create new characters.
  • Improved camera collision.
  • Buffs will now persist through play sessions.
  • Players can now split item stacks in the guild bank by Shift-clicking on the item.
  • Time-stamping is now available in the Chat Logs.
  • The Daily Quest counter has returned and displays under the Quest counter.
  • Brand new UI skin, to match the changes brought on by the end of the Dawning.
  • New Starter Experience camera path with voice over.
  • The Family descriptions now have scrollbars, allowing players to read all of the lore behind the various families of Alganon.
  • The Guild Invite character limit has been increased to 16.
  • Players can now purchase stackable items in stacks by shift-clicking on the item, and purchase full stacks by ctrl-clicking.
  • Improved Server stability.
  • Instances have been unlocked! Howling Foothills near the Grok Ruins, The Temple of Balam'karr near Balam's Thumb, Lethe Caves in the Green Mountains, Bur Clasp in The Burs, Lusha'aton off the Golden Shore, and Warkfiend Karr at Telduxx Tower.
  • The Library, Support Ticket, and Market now have a Loading Screen.
  • Added new visual rendering system, Vignette. This is on by default but can be disabled in Video Options.
  • Removed Thrown weapons from Alganon, these were not intended for release.
  • Most UI windows now automatically shift to the right when in a party to keep Party information visible and easy to see.
  • Vendors now sort their goods alphabetically.
  • Wandering Merchants now stop for a longer time to allow players to complete their transactions.
  • Support Tickets will now auto-fill the character name with the character currently being played (if applicable).
  • Scaling changes have been made on many mobs in Alganon.
  • Improved the display of explored areas on the map.
Bug Fixes
  • Players can no longer select 'Follow' from a party member dropdown, they must do it from a target dropdown.
  • Players will no longer be sent to the Xyjar Death Stone after dieing near a Realm Border in the Xanjuis Plains.
  • Players will no longer be able to receive coin and loot from an infinite distance.
  • Items no longer become locked when the player wins a Need Before Greed roll with a full inventory.
  • The Tariq's Summoning Bindstone is now working properly.
  • Wand Specialization now properly increases wand damage.
  • The character will no longer run in water after using various actions while swimming.
  • The Pauldrons of Legends are now available in Alganon.
  • The Economics and Bartering Dynamics studies can now be learned from the General Studies trainers in the Capital Cities.
  • Hew and Cry now properly unlocks after learning its prerequisite.
  • Dunesteel-thread Robes are now correctly equipped to the player's chest.
  • Mark of the Kujix is now a Bind on Pickup item.
  • Novice Crafting: Bloodfern Mutation now correctly makes Pressed Clover.
  • Spikethrower Bow is now listed as a Bow(Ranged) weapon.
  • Herbalism: Bloodfern will no longer randomly require 125 skill.
  • The Bindstone at Silverwar's Outpost now works properly.
  • Fixed a bug when multiple copies of an item were adjacent to one another in the Shared bank, moving one would make the others stop displaying.
  • The player will no longer receive a LUA error when pressing Shift+C while not typing in a chat field.
  • The Packmother will now remain dead long enough for the player to loot her corpse.
  • Glyphed Leaftender's Staff of Faith is now a MainHand staff, instead of OffHand.
  • Bloodtusk Ravagers now give HUD reputation when killed.
  • Bendraj of Hazzan HUD is now neutral toward the Asharr.
  • Fixed various typos in the text throughout Alganon.
  • Spirit Wand of Faith now correctly functions as a ranged weapon.
  • Group Loot Rule text now displays correctly.
  • /AFK will now correctly mark the player as 'Away from Keyboard'.
  • Character will now dismount when they attack a mob.
  • Arcane Essence now correctly increases the character's essence resistance.
  • Ranged mobs will now stay at range and attack the player, instead of closing the distance.
  • Alchemy: Tincture of Coordination is no longer part of the initial Alchemy package and can be learned later when the player can create it.
  • The player will no longer receive an error when they right click on an empty bag slot.
  • The player will no longer receive an error when they press the key bound to 'chat button'.
  • Fixed various seams in textures and breaks in the world geometry
  • Reaver's Scimitar now displays its damage range correctly.
  • Made improvements to Mob Pathing.
  • Chests will no longer fall through meshes.
  • Whispering a % will no longer display an error.
  • Debuffs and Buffs are now on seperate lines when the player adds or receives either.
  • Herb Nodes no longer display sideways.
  • Updated skill levels will now display properly if the skill window is open.
  • Bits of grass will no longer display black or as black squares.
  • Salvaging a stack of Junked Obsidian Parts now correctly salvages just one of the items at a time.
  • Brought many of our floating objects down to earth.
  • Alchemy Daily Quests unlocked by Studies are now available from the Master Alchemist in the Capital Cities.
  • Players will no longer be stuck in the mount animation if dismounted while casting.
  • NPCs will no longer randomly stand partially in the ground in Asheran.
  • The map will now fill in for Floogspits.
  • The Study Trainer will no longer show already known items unless the filter is selected.
  • Game Tips will no longer be obscured by a loading bar.
  • Trading with a full inventory no longer causes the items to appear gone.
  • Fixed the bug in which attacks will cause 0 damage to a random mob.
  • The quest helper will now properly be removed when disabled in the interface options menu.
  • Mobs now play their proper animation associated with a ranged attack.
  • Rebalanced the mobs in Sandsong Temple.
  • The Bindstone in Camp Norvale now functions properly.
  • The Guild Members page will now display the proper level of all members.
  • Trainers no longer rearrange their list after every purchase.
  • Players are now dismounted when they ride their mounts into water.
  • Wicked Skitter Scythe now displays Level 3 as its Level Requirement.
  • The Salvage Hammer will no longer stay on the cursor until an item is clicked on.
  • Improved animation blending.
  • Improved collision throughout Alganon.
  • * Gathering Nodes now give skill ups after skill level 30.
  • The Keystone - The Keystone Carving model now faces the correct direction.
  • Glittering Trinkets - The world objects for this quest will no longer become unlootable.
  • Magic Potion - Added the Bullhog Hoof and Coated Glass Vial into Alganon for this quest.
  • Pained Souls - The corpses needed for this quest can now be found in Alganon, just follow the quest tracker.
  • Ogran Ale - The quest tracker for this quest has been fixed, and the spawns have been increased.
  • Serious Business - The Skix around the objective are now of a more appropriate level.
  • Calling Stone - Information on the Attuned Rift Stone can now be found in the Library.
  • Prized Pumpkin - This quest has had its text reworded to reflect that the pumpkin isn't fine.
  • Yarak's Folly - The player must now retrieve the Scrying Crystals from behind Yarak.
  • Dark Father - The Bloodtusk Patriarch no longer displays beneath the terrain in Nazrun.
  • Soulrender - Soulrender Kaell now drops his head when killed, allowing players to start this quest.
  • Armor of E'gal - The player can now retrieve the armor from Fort Goxan.
  • Frognar in Training - Killing Gareen Swampwardens now counts toward completing this quest.
  • Fashion Police - This quest now properly requires 3 Dreadlithe Hoods.
  • Moving Mountains - This quest now gives proper XP.
  • Polished Gold Coins will no longer drop if the player doesn't have the quest for them.
  • Stronger, Faster, Better - The player can now take the potion to the Bubbling Spring to complete the quest.
  • Webbed Intruders - The Hopswort Raiders now spawn more frequently.
Class Changes

  • Darkside now plays a cast animation regardless of cast time.


  • Essence Burn now properly changes Essence Bolt's damage type when using it on a mob with higher Essence resistance than Fire resistance.
  • Biting Cold now properly increases Cold Penetration.


  • Made improvements to Point Blank Shot, mobs will no longer be pushed beneath the world.
  • Power Sweeper now properly augments the stun duration of Sweep.
  • Camouflage now works off a proximity based detection, and not all mobs will be fooled.
  • Leg Shot will no longer randomly stack on a target.
  • Invigorate now affects Swim Speed.


  • Aggravated Assault now properly adds a DOT to the Assault action.
  • Taunt (Rank 2) now has a tooltip outlining its effects.
  • Lockup has changed and now functions for a total of 10 seconds.
  • Pain Tolerance now lasts for its correct duration.
  • Barbed Words now properly increases the range of Taunt.
  • Berserker Blood now increases the damage players deal when their health decreases.

Im not sure i read anything about resistances correctly showing on the character sheet? was this addressed on this patch or will it be addressed on another?

Yea. I could have sworn I heard the sound of a whip cracking a few times while waiting for the patch to go live yesterday. :wink:

My personal Alganon issues , April 29th, 2010. patch

  • fps still drops randomly down to 14-20 FPS (from 60+) for no reason, standing in random locations in the world, doing nothing. To duplicate: Create a kujix ranger char, get to XK, press ctrl-r to display frame rate, press and hold the key to spin your character, and watch the display stutter every 5-7 seconds. Might be ranger only, might be my character only, but still happening and doesn't happen in any other MMO or any other game, for that matter. 3Ghz dual core 4GB system, been building and tuning computers my entire life, etc, etc. (not my machine causing this). This bug makes the game extremely unpleasant to play, given how relatively simple the graphics are compared to most other games and MMO's.
  • Character Studies interface ('I') still does not work properly. Multiple clicks (both right and left) are required to activate any selection, and trying to adjust the studies order is extremely frustrating.
  • Alternative Metalwork suddenly appeared on the study trainers today... where was it the entire time? Rank 1 is 3 days, rank 2 is 2d8h. Why is rank2 less time than rank1? Oh, and rank 3 is more thank rank 1 or 2... /grrrr
  • Moving a study to the top of the list halts studying. Why not just start studying the new one automatically?
  • Text rendering, especially dialogue text, looks like anti aliasing is enabled by default, which is an extremely poor choice for LCD monitors and very slim fonts. Not sure how that one got past QA, but it's very hard to read in it's current form. scrolling chat text is fine, but the interactive dialogue font text with NPC's looks horrific.
  • Icon tooltips are not adjusted according to ability selection. Example: The display of Sweep duration is not increased with points in --power sweeper. Another example: Prey's Mark resistance debuff is not increased with points spent in Marked for Death. Given these values are not reflected on effect icons when on creatures, it is impossible to know if the effect is really being increased or not.
  • Also, the damage values on the tooltips, either on the hotbars or on creatures, seem way off. Heart Toxin, for example, claims 215 damage over 15 seconds. Given it does 300+ dmg per tick, it seems unlikely that is true.
  • The display distance of names over NPC's heads is way too short now. Really, I'm less than 10 meters away, and I can't even tell who it is?
  • logfile format w/ timestamps looks great, well done whoever did that.
  • it would be nice if the timestamps (even just a shortened version of them) also displayed in game, when enabled. The full timestamp, as it is currently, should still go into the log file.
  • map loading time is a bit long, but the "new" maps (which appear to be the original un-fogged-of-war maps), are better.
  • The haste buff from Predation still has no display on the character Haste panel. Specifically: Ranged Haste is not an effect that we can verify in any way through the UI. I thought it was going to be shown for the re-release? Guess not.
  • Camouflage is now useless. Here's why: All creatures that grant XP see through it, 100% of the time, as soon as you enter melee range. What is the point of using an ability that fails every time you use it? Oh right, there is no point. "not all mobs will be fooled" Yeah, in particular, none that would make the skill even slightly worth using. Again, how that got past QA is a mystery to me. You can't use it to sneak past monsters. You can't use it to travel. You can't use it in combat. Why would you use it, then?
  • Monsters in the world don't update their real position in a timely fashion. When moving into a new area, in particular that has roamers, the monsters "slide" or teleport randomly as you select them and/or as you get closer to them. This has nothing to do with pathing, it's a client-server sync issue.
  • there is still no default 'use' key, so a multitude of clicking is required for everything. I understand people love their mouse and love their clicking, but in the long term, having a key binding for 'use' or 'loot' is a very good idea, and most MMO's have it. Why not Alganon?
  • Harvesting is still hit and miss. many times while harvesting ore I had to harvest nodes twice before they 'worked'. This is just ride or walk up, right click, harvesting bar animation plays. nothing happens. right click again, harvesting bar animation plays, items are obtained.
  • attempting to use an action that doesn't actually do anything dismounts the player, such as attacking something out of range. Why not wait until after the attempt before the dismount?
  • there are still monsters in the world that are unattackable, never move, do not aggro, do not attack and cannot be killed. Skaxar Tredge 988,287 Riptoe Raptor on Adrios if you need an example. They do, however, make excellent target dummies for testing Focus regen rates. ;) 41 seconds to regen 1665 focus with 36 soul. woooeee.
  • got stuck in combat for attacking a second bugged creature, couldn't recall, couldn't mount, nothing. had to log out.
  • killed about 10 solo mobs and lost between 3% and 5% durability on four of my items. wow. 10 mobs? really? And I'm killing them at range 99% of the time, too. I'd hate to be a soldier.
  • even better, at death, everything took a 10% hit, some pieces being reduced to 85%. cost? 25s, not the end of the world.
  • If you unselect a chat channel (such as help) it reappears every time you login. Why can't I de-select it permanently?
  • Why was recall changed to 45 minutes? Didn't see that in the patch notes... Pretty sure that was only 30 minutes before. Stealth nerf ftw? My bad, apparently not changed.
  • When I used recall, my arms were stuck in the air permanently, as though I was casting it, even after I got to my destination, and was walking around.
  • After I died and resurrected at my body, I couldn't cast anything. Nothing. Couldn't use anything, couldn't cast any spells, couldn't summon my mount. Had to relog. Unfortunately, this effect persisted through login/logout. Not sure how I can recover from this... Logged in as another character, logged out, tried the ranger again, nope. can't cast or use anything. Ok, after interacting with an NPC, i can use my mount, and heal, but I can't cast my stances or bonds. And ... then... it suddenly started to let me cast stances, 5 minutes later... wow. Is there some kind of invisible death effect that prevents certain actions after resurrection for a certain number of minutes? I hope not... but that's what it seemed like.

Not going to comment on the existing problems with any more Ranger abilities, as apparently they're going to be fixed/adjusted/balanced/tweaked "soon".

Why has the cost of reseting your skill's not in these notes its gone up a lot now since this patch.Will cost new players to try out diff specs a lot of money they wont have.

Actually, it's gone down for lower players and been raised for higher level players. The formula is based on the level of the character, making it far, far more affordable than it used to be with a set price.

I honestly find it unaffordable now, 1g wasn't so bad before but now after lvl 20 or so its more than that. At lvl 45 on my soldier it's 22.5G to respec, not exactly what I would call affordable.

Actually, it's gone down for lower players and been raised for higher level players. The formula is based on the level of the character, making it far, far more affordable than it used to be with a set price.
