Yep. I'm interested in giving this a look when it hits.
I know a guy who was working on this game when it was Heroes of Telara. He's excited about the new direction, though he no longer works for that company.
As for me, I've been burned by so many MMOs with new concepts that I'll just wait and see.

I am eagerly awaiting this title, as well. The cool thing is, that without a subscription cost for Alganon, I can play both at the same time! I only keep two sub payments at a time, and those are going to LOTRO and WOW right now. Both of those may be shown the door by me soon, it will be easy to choose one to cancel by 2011 at the latest.

I have been following Rift since it was first announced, back when it was called heros of telara. It looks very promising. I have been searching for a game I can eventually replace my WoW time with, and this game might be it. Of course i will still play it alongside SWG, and probably Alganon!
BTW I have read that LOTRO is about to go F2P soon...something of that sort.

I played all weekend aswell. The verdict is still out for me. I want to see the Guardian side on Dec. 17th. But, I am liking what I have seen so far.The game is totally " AWESOME " wow is old news now...lol. me Lygar and Arcane are playing it in 1st phase of beta. Graphics are really nice. All game mechanics are fluid and flawless. Great game.
I will more than likely play for atleast a few months after launch.

It's a WoW clone with a new skin.
"We're not in Azeroth anymore."
Their warrior and rogue classes are built just like WoW.
well obviously, wow is the most successful mmorpg out there, so people are bound to steal its ideas and try to pass them off as their own, it will go the same way as every other WoW "killer" thats been released in the last 6 years.
you wanna know the part i find the most sickening about this;
for years, i mean more than a decade, blizzard had used orcs, trolls, tyranid-like life forms called zerg, ogres and high-elves ... their title Warcraft 3 and its xpacs, was a smash hit - Games Workshop left them well alone while they built up the lore of Warcraft - Blizzard released World of Warcraft slightly more than a decade after the flagship of the Warcraft World, Warcraft: Orcs and Humans was released.
about 2 years into its existence, Games Workshop turns around and goes "hey, you stole our ideas!" and puts forward a huge court motion against Blizzard to either close WoW down for good - or get some of the money Blizzard are making off of "their ideas."
The ending result of that battle was; Blizzard helped GW:Interactive create the Warhammer MMO, which flopped, not because of what Blizzard did, but because WoW already has a strangle-hold on the market - sure people will come and go from WoW to check out other games, but most of them will come back when they realize that these games are just much more graphically highly polished versions of WoW itself.
The moral of the story?
All that glitters is not gold, Ergo; just because the next "WoW Killer" is a pretty game, prettier than WoW ... dosnt mean it will actually be better - its graphical quality (WoW's) is inferior, but that is because its engine in terms of the computing world is a relic of a bygone era.
do you keep your computer more than 4 years? i doubt it, your hardware would not only be slow by the modern standard but it would also be slow because of age.
do programmers recycle the same graphics engine for sequential games of the same genre? nope, they either modify it, or make a whole new system to keep up with new tech.
Blizzard? now they do something else, they allow people who cant afford all-singing-all dancing computers, like myself ... to enjoy a great escape from the real world, without having to fork out a bare minimum of $2000 to play their game.
Call me a fanboy if you will ... but you know im right, my youngest brother can still play wow on his Dell Dimension 2850, name one of the "WoW destroyer" games of the last 3-4 years that will play on a 128mb ddr2 graphics card from 2003.

Reply- Warhammer sucked because the original Mythic people were fired/released from Dark Age when another company bought them over and then new company moved its people in under their name and re-designed WHO again. It had been previously made and scratched once or twice before New Mythic picked it up.
You never really stated if you liked beta Rift or not ? Is it worth paying for or short term ?
I personally hate games like WOW that promote solo to50/70 whatever and no one likes to help each other. Im more of a traditional uo/Dark Age person in leveling with community, growing with people in a game, creating rival guilds. I'm not for solo to 50, group and get lame xp for wanting to not be bored out of your mind all the way there.
I did like some of WOWs end game dungeons, getting there and having a large E-Peen according to my calculator to make sure Im worthy to get into a raid sucked.

secondly, your missing my point.
warhammer failed because wow already has a monopoly on the market, and yes ive seen rift in action, my mate has the beta and we've already pulled apart the similarities between the 2 games, we both decided it was pointless trying to play -yet another wow clone-
Epeen? is not necessary, or did you try to fall in with the top guilds on your server? - if so, then thats your own stupid fault, all the high end raiding guilds - no matter the mmorpg have epeen problems and could fill an entire raid instance with their ego's.
if you had problems finding help on wow you were looking in the wrong places ... ive been with the same guild for 3 years and they literally fall over themselves to help me most of the time, im not even a senior member they just know me irl. - its about finding the right people.
and if you used gearscore mods then /lol@you ... gearscore is a joke, it takes into account 0 for player skill, it just gives you a raw number based on what crap your wearing, which is a waste of time for those 2 reasons - i bumped into so many lvl 80's in lvl 264 gear who didnt have a f*cking clue - but obviously everyone knows what their doing with a gearscore of 6k, right? WRONG!
