We've gotten a fair number of reports on this, so we're looking into it. Attacks such as Rip always did a fair amount of damage, but it's a bit worse this patch.

Mob is another way of saying monster; "the mob attacked me" = "the enemy attacked me".

yeah, it does seem that qol has been infiltrated by some gnoll sympathisers .. the poachers have gained a fairly nasty ranged dot too, which considering they are lvl 6 was not good news for my lvl 9 soldier and even her having some crafted blue gear couldnt save her if she got attacked twice in fairly quick sucession.
might i suggest we round up some dev's low lvl toons and march 'em out to see how they fare against the gnolls of doom?

I was just in the area checking it out on a level 36 character. I got eaten alive (granted, I had level 1 starter gear on and wasn't attacking it, just letting it attack me). As has been stated, that wand attack is awful, and will be changed.
That or the Poachers will rise up against us all and mass-genocide all races before we can make any changes. Either-or.

Funny you should say that...

still on the subject of wtfpwning mobs .. it seems the lvl 11 balamite worshippers near balams thumb have also had some love directed at them ... they've gained the rip firing wand which enables them to slaughter my admittedly somewhat feeble lvl 15 healer one on one with no trouble at all.
i think you guys need to introduce player housing pronto, so we can mortgage 'em to pay for gear repairs

Any wand (researchers, oracles, preachers, etc) or dotting mob (deer, crabs, scorpions, etc) does an inordinate amount of damage compared to its melee counterparts. My level 22 soldier can easily lose half his health on the above mobs, even if they're 4 levels below him. The last patch apparently reduced the speed at which wand mobs attack, but it still seems a little OP. The dots (usually "Rip") tick for ~50 damage every half a second for ~200 damage in two seconds. I try to avoid those mobs at all costs unless a healer is with me.
lol I find it hard to believe that they slowed the wands down. I'm at Anders farm and my quests now need me to kill Bloodhowl Whisperers. I can heal myself twice before I die, I dont have time to cast a DoT cause I have to heal the second they attack. My biggest hates in mmos are OP magic classes and needing high level tweeked geared players to complete quests my level ( RoM ) for example.
Right now I feel a little at a standstill because all my quests involve wand weilding mob and the lack of new players, there's noone my level to help. Ill put these quests on hold and try to find some that my healer can do, but the frustration of dieing so many times and the cost of repairs is turning me away from this game.

There's an area of coven to the south of that farm that my wife and I found last night (no quests lead you there, afaik). There are two quests sitting on the ground, and one that you can loot off the dual-wielding coven guards. However, stay away from the warlocks and the archers as they're both wand-happy and are very social, even through the terrain.Ill put these quests on hold and try to find some that my healer can do
My suggestion is that players marry healers. It worked for me.

We should have a fix for this fairly soon. In the meantime my suggestion is that you ask for help if you need to kill some of these mob types for a quest. While I know it's not always easy to find somebody willing to help, this is a fantastic community and I've never seen a group of gamers that are more receptive to helping each other than we have here.
Lastly, somebody was talking about wand speeds being increased which is not entirely accurate. Wand speeds weren't changed in this patch, only the speed of the shot. This is mostly a graphical change. Before the patch wand shots moved so fast you could barely see them, now you can clearly see the bolt (ball, whatever) bearing down on you. Also, it's a global change so players will see their wand shots bearing down on their targets.
