Created a ranger in assumption they could tame and have pets now...I am not high level but if this feature is in and what level do we get this? I looked on the initial trainer and removed the unavailable filter and looked through the skills in all the trees but itonly went up to level 13.

Or do we aqcuire this skill via a quest? bit more documentation or a quest on this would be helpful but im assuming this isnt in yet.

Unfortunately, rangers don't have any pets and none planned that I've heard.

Supposedly, a class is in the works that will have pets though. Just not yet.

Iirc correctly my ranger on the trial server did have a pet .. a kitten of some kind .. however they're only fashion accessories as far as i can see .. ie they dont do anything useful at present

Look for pet vendors in some of the larger towns

I think it would be better if rangers never had pets. Let them rock with the abilities they have now, and introduce a new class with pets.

Those are vanity pets, and they are for ALL classes in game. They can be purchased from any Pet Vendor around some Towns.

The initial plan, way back months and months and months ago, was for rangers to have pets. That was abandoned some time last late summer/early fall as I recall. The devs reported difficulty with implementation (I think that was it). I have heard here and there that a pet class is in the plans for the future. In reality, it's better not to have it if it isn't working well (aka the pet class in WAR, whose title I have forgotten). My soldier has the same kitten pet. It's just for fun, and is very cute!

To be honest, I like having the Alganon Ranger closer to a Lord of the Rings "ranger" than a World of Warcraft hunter.

Noncombat pets are awesome, regardless of what game they're in, heh. In WoW I had started collecting the things. =P
