Thoughts:

Is this a screenshot or a render?
Nice waterfall in the distance.
Nice detail on the visible hillside on the left.
Trees look fantastic - non-cartoonish.

Too much analysis here:

Assuming a few things..

The sun rises in the East and sets in the West, and that this looks like a sunset, not a sunrise, then...

Our nameless cape-wearing hero is facing the sunset (West), looking up a river valley with high hills on either side.

From the map of Ardonya, I'd guess that our hero recently departed Xajas Vaxx and is heading to Nox Charr or Highwater.

The waterfall doesn't appear large enough to be the tributary of the river that heads north outside of Xajas Vaxx, so I'm assuming it is a bit further along.

Anyone else want to speculate where in Ardonya our nameless hero is? 8)


And, after more thought, this looks like a screenshot that has the sunlight reflection added to the shield and rocks underfoot. Or, it could be the engine itself. Either way, I am impressed.

It is a beautiful picture either way, although I'm going for a non-engine shot. I love the sunrise/set effects.

I wouldn't be so sure that it is a sunset, either one seems just as likely to me. Well if it is drawn from a location in the world it is certainly going to fun finding the locale on the world map.

Not sure that I'm a fan of the WoWish massive pauldrons/shoulder pads.
But aside from that, the feel of the wallpaper is just magnificent!

The Pauldrons aren't excessive.. just large.

With that in mind, do they have the same color scheme as the Qeynos guards from EQ1?

The wallpaper itself looks pretty good. The only thing that really does not fit it's quality is the font used for the URL and copyright information. Makes it look "cheap-ish", if you ask me.

Other than that... more, more, more! :-)
