After taking time to process player feedback, work with our strategic partners, and present options to our investment team, we have decided to move the release date for Alganon from October 31st to December 1st.

This decision will allow us to refine the game, test on a larger scale, obtain additional visibility, and run some great contests (starting with the Immortal contest which should begin this upcoming week).

We appreciate the patience and support of everyone who has been testing and pre-ordered Alganon. Those who have already pre-ordered Alganon (before October 28th, 2009) will receive a month of free play as compensation and also receive the in-game items awarded at launch sometime during the beta process.

We wish to extend our appreciation to our supporters and look forward to bringing Alganon to the masses in December!

Reason for edit:: Corrected cut off date to Oct 28, 2009 to be fair to those who have already pre-ordered.

Great news.

Now what can we do as testers to help make this game as awesome as what many of us are seeing possible?

While it would have been nice to have a launch this weekend...December 1st makes a lot more sense (And I am on study period from uni...so get a whole month to play....I mean revise)

Looking forward to lots more patches and awesome stuff coming in!

Bravo! I must say that I'm quite impressed by this decision, I never really expected it to be delayed. I applaud all of you for listening to the community and taking the constructive feedback/criticism to heart and doing the "right" thing.

Wonderful news. My respect for this company just went up another notch. I was becoming concerned that the launch date was a bit too early considering there were still some glitches to be worked out and dreaded the reaction of a too critical audience and what it might do to the game's reputation. Another sign that this is being well run and players are being listened to. At the rate of progress so far in the game, and I've only been here about a month, December release looks to be awesome!

Another great example of the Alganon team listening to their player base.

Great work all, simply great work.

I am in much better spirits after reading this. Granted, I pre-ordered this morning before I read this because I really feel like this game is going to be fun. This post just reinforced my faith in QOL and that it was not misplaced.

Looking forward to some more bug squishing!

Well. If Alganon is a game that listens to the community--you listened to the community by delaying launch.

If Alganon is a game that is 'fun' first and foremost--then putting out the fires that take away the fun before launch and maybe adding to that fun seems worthwhile.

Even with the above--it was still a very difficult and courageous decision for both management and the investors.

I just wanted to say I am truly amazed. I had been hoping for weeks the launch would be delayed, but the closer we got, the more I lost hope. In seeing how far the game has progressed in the short month I've been testing, I am very confident that this month extra will allow us to implement the last few things needed to enable Alganon to succeed. I just wanted to extend a heart felt THANK YOU to all who participated in the decision to push back the launch. Not sure if the "Investment team" and "Strategic Partners" read the forums, but if they do, please know how much we as testers, appreciate the opportunity to help Alganon reach the potential we know it possesses.:thumbsup:

I have been beta testing for more years than I care to remember, and I have to say QOL ROCKS! There have been many betas that I was in where the community "reccommended" that the launch be postponed. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I have seen this done, especially so close to the actual release date. Ever since the beta started they have listened to the community on many different topics. While I am still waiting on gnoll skinning many other changes/additions have taken place.

Lets squash the last of the bugs and make this the great game we all know it will be!Posted Image

My faith in QOL has been one of the better decisions in my gaming life, it seems.

Bravo!

(Mind you, I was ready to support it even with an Oct. 31st release, but I can definitely see the great wisdom in this move!).

This post reminded me of what I was thinking about earlier with the UO beta test. There was so much anger by the beta testers for not being listened to before the game went live. Pure arrogance by the developers. They only survived because there was little to no competition.

Part of why it is good for gamers to support the smaller developers is because they do not have that type of arrogance, and if possible try to work with the gaming community. I am sure that this was a hard decision for part of the team to swallow, maybe for much of it to swallow. But by doing so I hope the fan base here will reward them by purchasing and promoting Alganon.

Wonderful news ^^

Like so many here, I have decided to support this game by pre-ordering, but I shared the same doubts about it being as ready as I would like by 31st October and some fears about not getting the player base the game deserves if it had been launched then.

I was willing to stick with it, despite seeing the need for a fair bit of work before release, and I was already impressed by the response of the dev team who are clearly working so hard, and yet take time to listen and respond to us here. I am even more impressed now; quite blown away, in fact.

I'm looking forward to being part of this great community of gamers and developers for a long time. Group hug, anybody? ^^

Take care.

Mia/Oshi

p.s. Hopefully the dev team will now get time for some food and sleep?

You'll be glad to know we've instituted the Alganon Reclamation and Recovery of Gurus program (ARRG).

With this program in place we can help save these brave and stoic creatures from being wiped out!
