Non-Humanoid Races?

Dragons were part of original Horizons along with other great races like the insect people, can't think of their name, which I was looking forward to the most. From what I played and read about Horizons, Dragons were done fairly poorly. So...
I hope the the four races yet to be announced for Crusade are not good elf and evil elf or good dwarf and evil dwarf. How about Asheroth griffins and evil Kujix dragons? It would be great to have a Non-Humanoid type race for both lands. One that doesn't use the same weapons and gear as the other races and use abilities that grow... claws, bite, or breath.
Knowing that David Allen is with Crusade I hope we will see some of the great ideas, already have families, that made me look forward to original Horizons.
Here's wishing the best for Crusade...

I'm looking goward to seeing what Crusade has in the wings. Oh, if it's Minotaurs please no bare chested ones, full fur looks better.

While we are still hashing out all the races, I can say with confidence that there will be at least one that isn't "human like".
sounds great! =)
Agree here, I'm ALL about the different experience that a non-human or even a not-anywhere-near-human race can offer. I look forward to learning more there.

So I'd really prefer to see other types of non humanoids then the general fantasy creatures like dragons and griffins. Like say giant intelligent bears, spirit creatures, or living statues of some kind. Not snake people or cat people.

Now I can understand some people who'd like to play an elf, and I've got nothing against dwarves or elves. But if we are only going to have 6 races at release, let's have some new faces. But that's just my opinion. And I'm sure David has a few picked out that he's sure to have, like maybe good elves which are very popular, far more then dwarves or orcs I'd add.
Humans however are 'always' in style. Sometimes people just want to experance a different world from a personal perspective and 'not' having humans would hurt any player base more then any other race, period. So it's good to know they're in.

On a personal note, I hope they do have either a lizardman or a Yuan-ti (abomination) PC race in the game. Horizons is the only MMO that had a lizardman, and to date there has not been a game with a playable snakeman race, so they really haven't been done.
Ummm, didn't EQ1 and EQ2 both have playable lizardmen? Frogs, and other stuff like that?
Edit: At least EQ2 does

And I've seen other MMORPG games released that had lizardmen, just can't remember.

Hell, WoW has fricken bulls as a playable race.
However, I seriously hope this game will indeed have non-bipedal races (read: more than one)
One of the coolest features about Horizons was it adding dragons. Not because of the fact that it's dragons (then again, dragons are cool) but because it's the first MMO to date that I know of to feature a non-humanoid (bipedal) race.
Variety is key, and having everyone look exactly the same just with a different skin tone, maybe an adjsuted height and modified ears here and there aren't enough of a real difference if you think about it...
Quadrapedal races or draconic races would be cool.

I guess the main reason most races are humanoid is because that's what most people want to play. However, I too would like to see non-humanoid races for my friends, who want that.

Only games I know that have lizardmen are EQ and HZ out of dozens of games, so it's not like they show up all the time.On a personal note, I hope they do have either a lizardman or a Yuan-ti (abomination) PC race in the game. And both those games suck dirty bathwater.
I don't know of any game that has snake people as a PC, or Oooooooo, a shark-man!!

It is all fun and fun, but hey rideable creatures is where we need to be going.
Take this guy for an example he is just cool looking. Wouldn't you rather combine him and a dragon and not just play them seperatly?
Wouldn't it be joyful to take him catch a dragon or a mythical creature and just train the creature to be rideable?
This also could make another sub-class from the planters.
IT would be intresting to have to buy creatures from PCS and the the PCS caught and cultivised the animals. Well thats my two cents *drolls about casting spells from his dragon*[/img]
