Aion Is Beautiful

I'm willing to experience the full game and judge it on it's own merits, not how it looks similar to one game or is not as graphically as beautiful as a different one. Looks aren't everything. They'll get you by for a while but it will get old after a while. I'm looking forward to Alganon as my next mmorpg and hope to enjoy my time there for quite some time.

No one can deny Aion's beauty in looks and animation nor deny it's generic gameplay.I have nothing against Aion it;'s a very good game...in no way innovative but good.My onyl reservations are it's end game and it's use of game guard which from previous experience doe sntohing to deter cheaters and botters.
I was considering aion until I read about the anti-cheat software. I won't play any game that requires a rootkit installation on my computer.

It is the same with Aion sadly.

I am glad to see a discussion about Aion elsewhere than general MMo gaming websites where the arguments turn into two sided mud-slinging, hate-filled screaming matches.
My problem with Aion is two-fold.
First, it is linear and linear to a fault. It reminds me of the 1-20 in Age of Conan "Tortage" experience with less creativity.
Related to the first, the issue has to do with alts and class changes. You do not pick your class in Aion until level 10. So what happens if you hate it? You have to re-do 1-10 again and it is exactly the same...there is no deviation from it. Want to roll an alt? Same thing.
Other games, even going back to DAOC, gave you multiple places to start from and enter the game. At least you have choices.
The second major issue is that there is NO PVP in Aion from 1-25 or so. Supposedly it is a PVP centric game and PVP is its main focus, but its plays like a linear, PVE game until level 25. I just don't get it.
Aion is beautiful and impressive and has its great points, but I really feel like there are some major design concerns that will keep me away from the game.
Anyone else feel that way?

I was also looking into Aion recently, but it does not appeal to me. Perhaps because it does seem to lack the type of content I am looking for in a game, but I agree that there has to be a lot more than pretty graphics. My overall impression of the game is that it is going to be a giant pvp fest, though I could be wrong since they are making such a heavy emphasis on the pvp.
Actually the story is quite an important part, and the devs said if you dont want to pvp you dont have to and we wont force you.

If I knew there was an option to choose a strictly pve server, I would be more excited about trying the game out. Everything I have read, which is strictly from their home site so I have no idea what information other news forums/blogs may have to offer, that the game is PvPvE. I take that to mean that the pvp is as integral to the story as pve. If the game turned out to have the same options as other games that offer both pve and pvp content as far as choosing to flag for pvp, or choices between pvp and pve servers, then I have completely misunderstood the information from Aion's home site.

Yea, I had doubts when I heard it was an NCSoft game, but the rootkit sealed the deal..I am NOT going through a Windows reformat just to get their stupid stuff off my pc. (especially since if we get 2 copies, I'd be reformatting hubby's pc too!!)

Rootkit, hooks in everything. After having played Aion, breathtaking graphics only takes a game so far. The substance is not there, and a MMO needs a community that is mature and willing to extend a welcome. I am finding this community so refreshing! The questing in Aion drops off at around 27 or so and you are left wondering 'now what'?
I much prefer an engaging game play with plenty to do and see, the library system here will fill many hours for me. The deity interaction is just what I have been looking for in an MMOG. I like to RP so I hope that all of these tools I am reading about in Alagnon will help me get back into it. So many games have come out where RP was never considered or an after thought.
Community is everything, how it's perceived, how well you are received. Everyone has something to contribute and that is what makes a game truly stellar in my opinion. I hope Alganon will become my home as I am done with putting my hopes into games such as Aion.

Just an FYI.. the devs lied! Nsoft Devs lie to EVERYONE. They do NOT moderate their forums, they mass ban legit customers, and leave the bots and gold spammers in game.. This game is a huge failure inspite of the reviews that I am sure nsoft paid for. They even go so far as to tell you to visit twitter page for official info.. bogus the CM gets a kickback for each referral to twitter... its sad really, the game alot to offer NA had the company not repeated its past mistakes.
But, because of Aion I did find Alganon, so its a sweet loss for me. This community is what I have looked for since the days of UO. When Seers would create magic in Pax, or Myth. When portals would suddenly open and hordes of liches would swarm thru, when the blue dragon would speak. When Lord British.. well enough nostagia.. on with Alganon!!! * does a snoopy dance*

To be honest, I didn't expect anything less from an NCSoft game after beta testing Lineage II and seeing where that went...

My review of the game is: Lots of fluff, not enough stuff.
I was very let down by the promise of PvPvE, which turned out to be RvR in a very similar manner to WAR.
I had more images of a darkness falls type of thing, or vanilla wow Molten Core/BWL/Onyxia raids on PvP servers, battling to get to the raid.
I played the beta of Aion, and didnt stay all the way through, I ended up playing cos my boyfriends WAR guild rolled there and he joined them from Eve.
I wasnt happy with the community when the game was less than 2 weeks into Western release, and already the LFG was "LFG X instance, no newbies", between that and the kind of language and behaviour I thought I had left in another game, I started losing interest.
This was followed up by the continual conversations I had along the lines of
"What do you want to do?" "I want to be a support role, I am not fussed which, but I do not want to dps"
"Well, roll a cleric then, but you need to be X level in Y days to keep up with us when we reach endgame, if you dont keep up we will have to kick you"
Now, I love raiding, and I am all about endgame...and I put around 40 hours a week usually into MMOs, it is what I do in my free time...
However, as I explained to everyone there, I am in the middle of midterms at uni, and I have projects, deadlines and exams coming out of all my orifices, so I am not logging in to powerlevel at the moment, especially in a game I do not know.
This was not good enough for any of the legions I spoke to..even though I am on most evenings from 4pm til midnight and pretty much all weekend.
*shrugs*
Anyway, my boyfriend loves the game, but he has a much higher idiot tolerance level than me

Aye. Which is also why I refuse ANY and all products from Sony in my house. I even go as far as to refuse to watch any movies in the theater with their logo on it.
I am a Dane, and we carry a grudge for a long, long time
