So, they changed the Asheroth to the Asharr. Not sure i like the new name, would have preferred a naming contest. Then again, some of the creature feature names they've chosen...never mind.
Did i miss an update or is this a stealth one that will result in this post disappearing in the near future?
Jergis, again emphasizing that hiring actual writers for games is a good idea

-Yes blue, i realize all this. The main point of my posting was to point out that i didn't see they were considering or were going to do that. And, after it was done, i didn't see any sort of announcement on the main page or in the forums that usually accompanies such changes.
Not saying they have to tell us beforehand, but usually an announcement after they do it is more prudent than just ignoring it was changed or not mentioning it. Seems odd to me, but i could be in the minority, as i am in most things.

I think it was a good change. Not only does it stop the references towards WoW but i actually think it is a better name. Then again I prefer names that are short and easy to pronouce.
Although I think it may have been wise to post a news article at the same time if not before actually making the change. I'm sure the news article will be here before we know it. Could be they just wanted to see how observant we are.

I have no idea, but will assume we were not informed due to this being a long holiday weekend. I also notice that the typical weekend spotlight was left undone. A naming contest would have been interesting; I wonder if they had been contacted and were asked to change the name; their legal division suggested they do so; or they just figured it would stave off futue problems? Nice choice of name though.

Hello everyone! Indeed Jergis, we were going to do some small announcements after the holidays were over. However, we weren't intending to announce it on the news page.
We wanted to keep this change more passive. For those that are interested in learning about the name change, there are good reasons behind it. The main reason is "Asharr" was simply more appropriate to both the lore of the game world, as well as its clarity amongst other names of similar pronunciation (Asharr is easier imo).
Personally, I think the English language needs 256 characters in it
. Did you know the Chinese character set is well over 30,000 individual characters, and that you need to learn 3,000 minimum to get by in everyday life?!
