MMOG development is extremely complex in both design and technical production. A game must be designed with a core set of features, yet flexible enough to evolve beyond the initial design based on player feedback. We here at QOL acknowledge that the design ALGANON may evolve far beyond what is defined here during its multi-year development process; however, we will continue to update this section as such design changes occur.

Economy & Crafting
In ALGANON, items can be crafted by master artisans that are as powerful as the legendary weapons seasoned adventurers obtain in battle. However, the process of crafting these powerful items requires a cooperation between multiple crafters, focused study, and even a helpful hand from an adventurer or two. Players seeking victory in the arena of commerce will need the same dedication as those who look to succeed on the battlefield.
Quests
While the world will be populated with numerous static quests that all can partake in, ALGANON will also offer custom dynamic quests specifically for the character. These quests are designed to add variance to the system and provide unexpected rewards.
Companions & Pets
Taming animals and controlling creatures with magic is part of playing specific classes in ALGANON. These companions will grow with their master, protect them, and can even have their look customized. Pets will be available to all classes, but most pets will be unable to participate in combat.
Races & Classes
ALGANON focuses on quality rather than quantity. The game will ship with a total of two races and four classes; however, there are so many variations in skills, abilities, and specializations that the results guarantee no two characters will be alike. As ALGANON continues to grow, new playable races will be added.
Action, Ability, Skill and Study Systems
Character Progression in ALGANON is based on a four core system. Actions are what characters carry out during game play, such as a special attack or a tradeskill, etc. Abilities represent a point-based distribution system allowing the character to focus on specific class-based specialties. Skills are the underlying methods of growth in utilizing certain areas of class-based focus, such as a character's skill in swords, or a specific profession. Studies are the core support base for all other systems, allowing characters to grow over time at the same rate as all other players.
Enhanced Appearance
During the character creation process, the player can choose from a number of predefined facial structures and appearance adjustments based on selected race. A character's appearance is directly affected not only by the weapons and armor, but their actions and power.
World History

The world of Alganon has a rich multi-cultural background and history that divs thousands of years. Grand cities, dark ruins deep in the most dangerous parts of the world - it all ties together in some fashion, and all of it has a purpose, a history, or a legend. Much of this history is available to the players through the library, but much of it must be discovered.

Alganon features two large continents. The Asharr-controlled continent of Ardonya, and the Kujix-controlled continent of Harraja. Both continents have all types of terrain divning forests, fields, plains, deserts, mountains, jungles, swamps, and tundra.

Instances
ALGANON will feature both world and instanced areas for exploration. Some instances will have restrictions on the number of players allowed.
Transportation
In addition to the use of magic, numerous types of mounts will be available to the player, allowing for accelerated traveling. The Circles of Ouroban are a world-wide teleportation network that allows players to instantly travel between major outposts.
Factions
Numerous factions control various places within the world. Each character will have the ability to enhance or lower their standings with these different groups, races, and organizations.
The Library
Both the Asharr and Kujix capital cities contain a grand library. Access to the information in the Library is available from anywhere within the game via the User Interface. Through this interface, players can research items, creatures, magic, tradeskills, and learn about the history of the world and what families, guilds, and people have made amazing achievements. These libraries serve as the central hub of information for each side.
Deities & Crusades
Multiple gods allow characters to represent different powers, teachings and knowledge. This also allows for additional community interaction as well as conflict throughout the world. One player who declares patronage to a specific deity may find that in a certain part of the world, the creatures are drawn to destroy them with much more ferocity than another.
Families & Guilds

Being a part of a family in Alganon is a great way to join with players that share similar interests. For example, power gamers can be in the same family and casual gamers can be in their own family. You can switch families for a fee or by completing a certain quest, but only between families for a given race. A Kodian cannot join a Human family, for example. While family names will be displayed by default upon entering the game, you will have the option to turn them off.

Each race has five different families, and each family represents a different "theme" that attracts gamers of a specific category. Instantly communicate with your new family, protect your siblings, and establish your family's name in the history books.

Major cities will have Family merchants that sell merchandise just to specific family members. These items are called heirlooms. Different families will have different colors and themes. There are also heirloom pets, such as kittens, frogs, etc. All of these options are based on race and family type.

Every family has its own chat channel that all family members can freely participate in. This channel is automatically "made active" when you log into the game. You will be able to disable/remove the channel, but can rejoin it at any time. You can only join their own family's channel. MyAlganon will have a Family section that lists all the families in the game (for each race) and the members of each family, when they joined, their heirloom status, etc.

You can also create guilds and accomplish tasks to be etched in the Great Library's history books.

Parties, Battalions & Legions

Teaming up with other players is critical for many of the quests and crusades in the game - and a requirement to take on many of the legendary creatures in the world.

Auction System
Share your goods on the public auction house for a profit. Beyond this, our default auction system will support a number of internal tools to help determine the current market price for merchandise, as well as demand.

Consignment
While the Auction House is for the sale of items, Consignment is for players to post requests for items to be made or found. This allows players to set up and participate in player-based "item quests" within the Consignment house.
Tradeskills & Harvesting
Professions, Gathering Skills, Processing Stations, and more. The world of ALGANON is designed to have an internal stable economy where a balance between "controlled" currency, items, and materials exists with player-based economic involvement.
Items
There will be many different types of items in the world. Weapons, Armor, Jewelry, Bags, and Materials are just a few. Items will need to be repaired as they become worn, but it's easy to find a repairer in most villages, towns, and cities.
Client Customization
ALGANON will ship with a custom-built LUA scripting system allowing players to create custom interfaces or enhance existing ones.
