Quest Online, LLC (QOL) is a MMOG development company currently building the upcoming MMORPG ALGANON. Founded in January of 2006, QOL is seeking to add talented and experienced individuals to its existing development team. Game Client Developer

Quest Online is looking for a responsible, qualified and mature developer to build the windows-based ALGANON MMOG game client. Areas of development must cover a broad spectrum, including client game logic, rendering pipelines, network code, scripting system support, and user interface integration. This individual also needs to be able to work independently, communicate clearly and easily with other team members, and must enjoy working in a fast paced environment. This position requires a very methodical individual with a well-rounded computing exposure and firm understanding of programming concepts, and is a great opportunity for a developer to be a part of an exciting upcoming MMOG that consists of a talented and experienced team of individuals.

Duties
  • Work with Game Designers to implement features on the game client
  • Work with the Server Development Team to implement network communication systems
  • Plan and Manage the builds for the Client, synchronized with the overall production version of the game content and database systems
  • Enhance administrative and editing tools with features related to new game data
Requirements
  • Expert C/C++ programmer
  • Solid understanding of programming concepts including event and distributed programming
  • Extensive experience with graphics programming and complex algorithms
  • Experience with the implementation of game, UI, camera, rendering, FX, 3D object, and particle systems, and online network programming
  • Experience with code optimization
  • Extensive DirectX9+ programming experience
  • Complex graphical programming experience including Shader programming experience (HLSL/GLSL)
  • Expertise in 3D math, physics, and rendering
  • Must be an avid MMOG gamer!

Game Server Developer

This individual also needs to be able to work independently, communicate clearly and easily with other team members, and must enjoy working in a fast paced environment. This position requires a very methodical individual with a well-rounded computing exposure and firm understanding of programming concepts, and is a great opportunity for a developer to be a part of an exciting upcoming MMOG that consists of a strong and experienced team of individuals.

Duties
  • Work with other Server developers and Game Designers to implement features on the game server
  • Work on efficiently handling scripting for all server controlled game entities.
  • Work on creation of game logic and AI scripts and code.
  • Work with the Client Development Team to implement network communication systems
  • Work on game server, database server, and with client developers to ensure stability for thousands of concurrent users
  • Participate in the management of server builds, synchronized with the overall production version of the game content and database systems
Requirements
  • Expert C/C++ programmer
  • Solid understanding of server-based programming concepts and event and distributed programming experience
  • Expertise in designing distributed simulation architecture, particularly in an MMO context
  • Strong online network programming experience
  • Extensive database integration programming experience (PostGreSQL, MySQL, or MSSQL)
  • Work in a fast-paced environment while meeting planned milestones
  • Prior scripting language experience (PYTHON preferred)
  • Experience working with multiple integrated large-scale projects
  • Must be an avid MMOG gamer!

Web Developer

QOL is looking for an experienced web designer to help build our on-line community system for our upcoming MMOG ALGANON.  This individual needs to be experienced in the creation of graphical and interactive websites, and have a strong background in a javascript framework such as Prototype (preferable), jQuery, or Dojo.  

Duties
  • Work closely with the Lead Web Developer to implement features related to the ALGANON community site 
  • Implement all needed pieces of the ALGANON community site in HTML+CSS
  • Create and maintain a set of design PSD's for each new Phase of the project 
  • Assist with the JavaScript rich interface implementation 
Requirements
  • Mastery of HTML and CSS
  • Extensive Photoshop experience with a high skill level in graphical design and technique
  • Must be well versed in AJAX via a decent framework such as Prototype, Dojo, or jQuery
  • At least three years experience creating quality graphically intense and interactive web solutions
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Must have a high level of creativity and the ability to apply that creativity to sound and well-designed web-based technical solutions

Community Marketing Manager

QOL is looking for an experienced and capable individual to fill the role of Community Manager. This role goes beyond a typical community manager role in the sense that this individual will be involved in:
  • Alpha, beta, and release process
  • Providing and coordinating feedback from the community
  • Planning and executing marketing drives
This individual will be responsible for keeping track of the pulse of the MMOG industry, ALGANON community, and responsible for providing feedback relating to the players needs.

This individual must be personable, creative, capable of understanding the fundamentals of game design and have excellent written and verbal skills. The ability to conduct strategic campaigns that involve the player community is necessary as well.

Duties
  • Manage the ALGANON community via the forums and website (news announcements, media postings, etc.)
  • Responsible for creating the strategies associated with communicating with players, gaining feedback, and building the ALGANON community
  • Survey, analyze and communicate with ALGANON players to understand positive and negative perceptions and report that information effectively to designers and developers.
  • Create and manage marketing campaigns to bring new players to the world of ALGANON and maintain existing player base.
Requirements
  • Two years experience working with online communities, preferably MMOGs
  • Experience with the fundamentals of MMOG content and world design
  • Must be an avid MMOG player
  • Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing. You will need to pass a spelling test, demonstrate expert proficiency using spell checker AND the ability to proof read your own work (references necessary).
  • Interest in sales and marketing, and related concepts and methods.
Preference
  • Preference will be given to those with marketing or sales experience
  • Preference will be given to those with a degree in marketing or related experience
